Gentling & Ground Manners
Pushy, stubborn, uncooperative and downright disrespectful horses can be more than an annoyance - they can be dangerous!  Your horse should respect you and your space when you are on the ground working with and/or around him.  Ground manners are first taught to the horse, then to the owner, so that s/he can continue to enforce them appropriately.

Basic Horse Handling
The makings of a well mannered horse begin long before saddle breaking.  In fact, every owner should make sure their  horse understands and respects them before climbing in the saddle.  Our course in horse handling techniques will show you how to train your horse to pay attention to your gentle and subtle cues while you are on the ground.  This will translate into a horse that picks up on subtle cues when you are in the saddle.

Colt Starting
We start our horses out gently and quietly, in order to produce a very soft  horse.  Our goal for colt starting is to have a young horse that will stand for saddling and mounting and not walk off until cued.  He should accept a bit, work off the leg and seat and require very little use of the reins and bit.  Young colts of three years old are started at the walk and trot, postponing the lope until bones and joints are more mature, at age four.  This training also includes, traversing a straight line; staying on circle; speed control; working off the leg, seat & pressure; collection & rounding; side passes & half passes.

Discipline Assessment & Basic Skills
If you'd your horse to try his hoof at something more, we can help assess his potential based on his conformation, temperament, lineage, personal history, physical condition and other factors.  We train horses, based on the above criteria, in the following basic skills:
Barrel racing:  Lead changes; flying lead changes; trot/lope the pattern; bending & counter-bending; timing & rating.
Pole Bending:  Lead changes; flying lead changes; neck reining; bending & counter-bending; timing & rating; and rollbacks.
Roping:  Neck reining; desensitizing to the rope; dragging; tracking; positioning; and hard stops.
Reining:  Softening; speed control; neck reining; bending & counter-bending; lead changes; turn on the hind; turn on the fore; and rollbacks.
Ranch/Trail Skills:  Softening; speed control; neck reining; desensitizing to rope; dragging; crossing bridges, opening gates; and traversing obstacles.

Safety & Security

Within our private pastures, your horse will be secure behind locked gates thru which only members and staff have access.  In addition,  our drive-up gates make  it safe and easy for you to get to your equine companion!

Health & Exercise

Your horse was made to run!  In fact, without daily exercise, horses are susceptible to all sorts of problems and illnesses.   With regular turn-out, your horse will have lots of room to move.  So, he'll be getting plenty of exercise on his own!
